‘Oranges and Sunshine’ tells the story of Margaret Humphreys, a social worker from Nottingham, who uncovered one of the most significant social scandals in recent times: the organised deportation of children in care from the United Kingdom to Australia. Almost single-handedly, against overwhelming odds and with little regard for her own wellbeing, Margaret reunited thousands of families, brought authorities to account and worldwide attention to an extraordinary miscarriage of justice.
Produced with Camilla Bray of Sixteen Films.
‘Oranges and Sunshine’ had its world premiere at the Pusan International Film Festival and also screened at London Film Festival and Rome Film Festival 2010. The film won 1 AACTA award and was nominated for a further 6 awards.
